Perfect
Circle Triangle Square,
2013; Hand-made
Book; 11 x 8½ x ¾“
First,
I ruled out a perfect example of a circle, a triangle, and a square
in the exact center of a letter size sheet of paper. The base
measurement of each shape was determined by the length of my hand
from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger. I then tried to draw
these shapes again but this time freehand – one of each, each day,
for months. I was trying to draw them exactly the same size in the
exact center of the paper, as in the “ideal” examples. After 207
attempts I copied the “perfect” shapes over my drawings. I was
very close in some of them, in others I was way off.
